301 1st Ave is located on the corner of East 17th street in Manhattan’s Gramercy Park neighborhood. Formerly known as Gilman Hall, when it was part of Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital, the vacant 24-floor tower is now being renovated into a residential building. In July of 2019, UBS began constructing shed and fence protection on-site and providing hoist installation as well. 135 ft of sidewalk shed was built along 1st Ave along with 175 ft that was built along 17th street. Both sidewalk sheds are 8 ft high with fencing on both sides, except for a span of 16 ft on both sides that is 25 ft high for truck entry. A 7,000 lb-capacity dual hoist was installed along the building, which services from the ground to the 24th floor, covering a total of 231 ft.
