Designed by architect Helmut Jahn and located in the Financial District neighborhood at the southern tip of Manhattan, 50 West Street is a tower of curved glass facing south to panoramic views of New York Harbor, Governors Island, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. A total of 3,000 panes of glass were installed, with each pane weighing up to 1,900 pounds. Five hundred of the panes are curved—no other building uses curved glass in such volume. The building topped out in September 2015 at 66 floors.
