Flushing Commons is a massive billion-dollar megaproject located at 136-35 39th Ave in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens. Construction broke ground on the 5-acre plot of land in 2014, and phase 1 of the mega project was completed in 2017. Phase 1 included an 18-floor residential building and a 14-floor commercial building. UBS began shed construction and hoist installation on both these buildings in September 2015. Two sidewalk bridges were put up on-site, one along Union Street and the other along 39th Ave. The bridge on Union Street included a 40 ft long 16 ft high truck entrances and an additional 20 ft long 8 ft high span for egress. The 39th Ave bridge included two truck entrances each 50 ft long and 16 ft high. An additional 100 ft long 8 ft high span ran along the avenue as well. Two 7,000 lb. capacity dual hoists were installed on both the residential and commercial building, known as Building C and D in development plans. The first dual hoist was installed on Building C and serviced from the ground floor to the 18th floor, covering 181 ft. The second dual hoist was installed on Building D two months later in November of 2015. This was a counterweighted hoist which serviced from the ground to the 14th floor, covering a total of 170 ft.
