Javits Center
Javits Center, 11th Avenue, New York, NY, USA
The Javits Center is Manhattan’s largest convention center, located on 11th Ave between 34th and 40th street. It was formally named the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center after the passing of United States Senator Jacob Javits in 1986, the same year construction was completed, and the Center opened its doors. Since opening the Javits Center has become the busiest convention center in the country, hosting hundreds of large scale events on an annual basis. As the nation’s premier convention center, a $1billion extension plan was put in place in 2016, to further grow and improve the iconic facilities. UBS is assisting in this mission by installing 3 separate hoists throughout the site. The first installation began in September of 2018, consisting of a single interior hoist which runs a 7,000 lb. hoist car from the first level to the eighth level, totaling 185 ft of coverage. In February 2019 a twin mast interior hoist was installed, running a 12,000 lb. car from the first level to the eighth level, an additional 185 ft in service coverage. Lastly, one dual exterior hoist was installed in July of 2019. This hoist complex runs a 7,000 lb. hoist car from the first level to the fourth level, totaling 85 ft of service coverage.
