One Vanderbilt Avenue
1 Vanderbilt Avenue, New York, NY, USA
Located in mid-town Manhattan on the corner of 42nd and Vanderbilt, stands the 67-floor supertall skyscraper One Vanderbilt. Beginning construction next to Grand Central back in 2016, One Vanderbilt is now topped out at 1,401 ft at the tip of its spire. UBS began providing construction of shed and fence work back on January 1st, 2017, and began hoist installation on March 1st that same year. The sidewalk bridges are 16 feet high and run 250 feet long, one located on 42nd side the other on Madison. Both sidewalk bridges had to be custom fabricated in order to achieve longer spans than your typical sidewalk bridge. The Madison Ave bridge also includes two higher sections and gate entries for trucks. The main hoist complex includes three dual hoists running 7,000 lb. cars on the exterior of the building. Originally designed only to service up to the 59th floor, the main hoist complex now runs from the ground floor up to the 64th floor, topping out at 1,100 ft. Along with the main hoist complex is a below-grade hoist, a single 6,000 lb. hoist, which runs from the ground floor down to the third basement level. All the hoists were brand new upon installation.
